Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before downloading or using the Matcha mobile application, developed by Creative Adventures Lab ("we", "us", "our") (available on the App Store and Google Play, also referred to as "Matcha", the "App", or "Service"). By installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

1. Description and Scope

Matcha is a personal matcha tasting journal, brew timer, and ritual tracker for iOS and Android devices. The App allows you to:

• Maintain a cellar of matcha tins, with brand, name, origin, harvest year, grade, weight, price, status (sealed / open / finished), an optional photograph, and free-text notes;
• Run a brew timer for the four built-in prep styles (usucha, koicha, matcha latte, iced matcha), with optional per-phase timing overrides and an adjustable matcha-grams dose;
• Record a tasting journal for every brew, including six taste-axis sliders (umami, sweet, body, finish, astringent, vegetal), an auto-derived overall rating on a 0–10 scale, and free-text notes;
• See a session detail view with a radar visualisation, brew parameters, and a link to the originating tin;
• Track a ritual of daily check-ins at 60 minutes and 180 minutes after a brew, capturing focus, mood, energy, and an optional note;
• Watch your freshness clock on each open tin, with a coloured tier badge (peak / fading / use soon / past peak) and two follow-up reminders scaled to the tin's configured freshness window (one at approximately 77 % of the window, one at the window end);
• Browse an editorial recipes library of variations on the four basic prep styles;
• Manage custom prep profiles (saved brew configurations) and export your entire journal as CSV or a versioned JSON backup.

The App stores all of your personal data locally on your device in a sandboxed SQLite database and in AsyncStorage. There is no Matcha account, no sign-in screen, no email/password registration, no Sign in with Apple, and no Sign in with Google. There is no server-side database of any kind operated by us. The only backend interaction is the subscription verification handled by Apple's StoreKit 2 or Google Play Billing on our behalf.

The App is offered as a freemium service:

• Free starter (no subscription required): up to three (3) tins in the cellar, up to ten (10) sessions in the journal, the usucha brew timer, the streak and 7-day dot strip, the freshness clock, and the ritual check-in flow. Taste rating (the six taste-axis sliders and overall score) is also free. This tier is available indefinitely; expiry or cancellation of a Matcha Pro subscription returns you to the free starter, not to a blocked state.
• Matcha Pro (paid subscription): everything in the free starter plus unlimited tins, unlimited journal history, the taste radar visualisation, the koicha / matcha latte / iced matcha prep styles, smart insights and pattern cards, custom prep profiles, and CSV / JSON export.

New users are offered a one-time seven (7) day free trial of Matcha Pro when they access the paywall — either via Settings → Upgrade to Pro or when they tap a Pro feature (such as attempting to add a 4th tin or selecting Koicha prep style). The trial is optional — the App may be used on the free starter tier without ever subscribing.

These Terms govern your use of the App on any device. They do not govern any third-party services (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) whose own terms apply separately.
