Overview

Puro is a private cigar journal and collection tracker intended for adults of legal smoking age in their jurisdiction. The app does not advertise, endorse, or promote smoking in any way — it is simply a personal tracking tool for existing cigar enthusiasts.

Puro is built on a simple principle: your cigar collection is yours. The app is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not run advertising, we do not sell your data, and we do not track your behavior.

What We Collect and Why

Data you create in the app

Everything you enter — humidors, cigars, smoke session notes, ratings, tasting notes, photos — is stored locally on your device. This includes:

• Humidor names, settings, notes, and humidor photos
• Cigar details (brand, vitola, origin, price, quantity, aging dates) and cigar photos
• Per-batch aging information (cigars added at different times are tracked as separate batches with their own dates so aging timelines remain accurate after a restock)
• Smoke session journals (tasting notes, ratings, drink pairings, occasion, optional session photos)

Camera and Photos

Puro requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you photograph cigar bands for identification and to attach one or more images to your humidors, cigars, and smoking sessions. Photos are stored locally in the app's private document directory. They are not transmitted to any server unless you explicitly use an AI-powered feature (see AI-Powered Features below).

Age Verification (Age Signals)

Puro is an adults-only app. To prevent minors from using it, Puro reads an age-range signal provided by your device's app store — Apple's Declared Age Range API on iOS and Google Play's Age Signals API on Android — where required by law (e.g. the Texas App Store Accountability Act). This signal is an age range (for example, "18 or over"), never your exact birthdate, and is provided by the store, not collected by us. We use it only to determine whether to grant access; we store only the resulting adult/minor verdict on your device, and we never use it for advertising, profiling, or analytics. When no store signal is available (for example, on older operating systems), you instead self-certify that you are of legal smoking age in your jurisdiction by checking a confirmation box; only this confirmation (an adult/legal-age attestation) is stored on your device. We do not ask for or store your date of birth.
