What's new in this version
A short summary of what changed in this revision. It's for convenience only — the full policy below is what governs:
- Yearly plan added (Section 3.2). Crumb+ is now available as a yearly subscription, in addition to weekly, monthly, and lifetime. As with the other plans, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play — we never receive or store payment details for it.
- Free trial narrowed to monthly and yearly. The weekly plan no longer includes a free trial (it is charged immediately at sign-up); monthly and yearly continue to include a 3-day free trial. This does not change what data we collect — the trial/unlock status was, and remains, stored only on your device (Section 3.1).
- More precision on Railway's server location (Sections 3.10, 5, 5.1). The consent-withdrawal endpoint's hosting is now specified as Railway's EU West (Amsterdam) region, with a link to Railway's own privacy policy.
What did not change: your baking data still stays on your device — no analytics, no accounts. The age-assurance and consent-withdrawal-endpoint sections introduced (3.9, 3.10) are unchanged.
1. Who We Are
Crumb – Sourdough Tracker ("Crumb", "we", "our") is a mobile application for iOS and Android that helps you track sourdough starters, log bakes, manage recipes, and calculate hydration ratios.
On the Apple App Store, the App is listed as "Sourdough Tracker: Starter Log" (subtitle: "Crumb: Bread & Bake Recipes"). On Google Play, it is listed as "Sourdough Starter Tracker Log". These store listings refer to the same application, called "Crumb" or "the App" throughout this document.
2. The Short Version
- Your baking data stays on your device. Starters, bakes, recipes, and notes are stored locally and never sent to our servers.
- We collect no analytics. We have no visibility into how the app is used.
- We never collect your name, email, or any identity information, and there are no user accounts. The one exception is the optional in-app feedback form: if you choose to use it, what you type is sent to our form provider, Tally (see Section 3.8).
- On iOS 26 and later, Crumb reads a single coarse age category (broadly "adult" or "minor") from Apple's on-device age-assurance system to comply with child-safety laws. This category stays on your device and is never transmitted (see Section 3.9).
- We operate one small endpoint that receives consent-withdrawal notifications sent by Apple. It verifies and discards them, storing nothing — and they never contain your name, your baking data, or any other personal information (see Section 3.10).
- You are in full control. You can export, back up, or delete all your data at any time from within the app.
